Planning, Design, and Project Administration by Markey and Associates for this Expansion to existing outdoor family aquatic center (listed below), also by Markey and Associates. This Expansion project is a Design-Build in association with Swim-Pro Pools. This project is in progress and is scheduled to open Summer 2009.


Francis Meadows Aquatic Center, Gainesville, Georgia:  (Pictures)
Planning, Design, and Project Administration of the aquatics portions by Markey and Associates, in association with Lose & Associates. This is an Indoor and Outdoor Family Aquatic Center. Construction cost approximately $3,500,000 (Markey portion)

Planning, Design, and Project Administration by Markey and Associates for this $4,000,000 Family Aquatic Center in Bluebird Park. Opened October 2008.

Family Aquatic Center, Wyoming, Ohio: (Pictures and Master Plan)
Planning, Design, and Project Administration by Markey and Associates for this Family Aquatic center. Construction began 2006, with opening scheduled for after Memorial Day in 2007.

Planning, Design, and Project Administration by Markey and Associates for a Leisure Pool Complex at the "Wild Cat" area of a mountain resort owned by Big Canoe Development Corporation.


Outdoor Family Aquatic Center, St. Joseph, Missouri: (Pictures)

Outdoor Family Aquatic Center, Ballwin, Missouri: (Pictures)
Planning, Design, and Project Administration by Markey and Associates for this outdoor family aquatic center. A 900-foot long river, play pool with tipping bucket, 25-yd. x 25 meter competition pool, a vortex pool and a Grandfather Oak Tree sporting a rope swing are just a few of its special features. Opened June 2003.


Whitecliff Family Aquatic Center, City of Crestwood, Missouri: (Pictures)
Markey and Associates provided aquatic and site design for this unprecedented municipal Family Aquatic Center. Opened 2002. Awarded "2002 Silver Splash Award for Outstanding Quality" by the National Spa & Pool Institute.


Indianapolis JCC, Indianapolis, Indiana: (Pictures)
Planning and design of a new family aquatic center with indoor/outdoor pool, as part of a design-build team. A $2,500,000 project. Opened summer of 2003.


Schroeder Park Family Aquatic Center, City of Manchester, Missouri:  (Pictures)
Markey and Associates provided aquatic planning and design of this new Family Aquatic Center. Opened 2002. A $3,000,000 project. Awarded "2002 Silver Splash Award for Outstanding Quality" by the National Spa & Pool Institute.


Algonkian Regional Park, Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority, Virginia: (Pictures and Master Plan)
Analysis and Needs for Algonkian Regional Park followed by planning, design, and managing the construction phase of the resulting additions to this park. Opened 2001.


Recreation Station, City of Kirkwood, Missouri:  (Pictures)
Markey and Associates provided aquatic and site design for this unprecedented municipal Family Aquatic Center. Opened June, 1999.


River Country, City of Muskogee, Oklahoma: (Pictures)
This municipal Family Aquatic Center in Oklahoma's "Green Country" is an ambitious project for this town of 35,000. It opened in the summer of 2000 to enthusiatic crowds. Winner of the "2002 Excellence In Aquatics Award" by the National Recreation and Parks Association.


Family Aquatic Center, Farmington, Missouri: (Pictures)
This attractive and exciting municipal Family Aquatic Center is successfully drawing crowds from the surrounding rural areas of Southeast, Missouri.


Stonewall Jackson Resort, West Virginia: (Pictures)
This beautiful lakeside resort opened in 2002. Markey and Associates provided the aquatic design through Blackwood Associates. The pool is extended from indoor to outdoor and includes two spas.


Aquaport Family Aquatic Center, Maryland Heights, Missouri: (Pictures)
Extensive Complex with a family play pool, leisure pool, continuous river, and 6 waterslides. Opened summer, 1998. Markey and Associates provided the aquatic design through Yarger Architects. Facility of Merit.


Koch Park Family Aquatic Center, City of Florissant, Missouri: (Pictures)
Planning and design of a new family leisure pool complex. The features include a continuous river, interactive kiddie play areas, teen/adult activity pool areas, lap lanes, waterslides, bathhouse facilities, and creative landscape interaction. Opened Summer of 1995.


City of St. Charles, Missouri: 
Planning and design of three new family leisure pool complexes (and renovation of a fourth pool facility). The features include interactive kiddie play areas, teen activity pools,competition pools, water slides, bathhouse facilities, and creative landscape interaction.
The first two facilities at  Blanchette and McNair facilities won the 1994 NRPA Excellence in Aquatics award. Wapelhorst Family Aquatic Center, completed in 1996, set a new standard for area family aquatic recreation. These projects would cost approximately $9,000,000 in today's dollars.



St. Marys, Georgia: (Pictures and Master Plan)
Planning and design of a new Family Aquatic Center ... features a lazy river, an outdoor pool, and a playpool.



Watermania, Kissimmee, Florida (Commercial Waterpark): (Pictures)
Planning and Design of the exciting new continuous river, Wave Rider surfing attraction (the first non-prototyype installation), a new kiddie play pool and 2 new slide systems, and renovations of another kid's play pool; in these four multi-year expansions of this Orlando area waterpark.



The Beach Waterpark, Mason, Ohio (Commercial Waterpark):  (Pictures)
Design of "The Pearl", a themed family pool with fiber-optic lighting, waterfalls, and other quiet features intended to serve groups and season membership guests.



Summer Waves at Jekyll Island, Georgia (Commercial Waterpark):  (Master Plan Rendering)
Markey and Associates has developed a 5-year expansion plan and preliminary design of the phase 1 improvements for this publicly owned, coastal resort waterpark. Summer Waves was originally designed by the team Mr. Markey supervised at Heery International.



Rio Water Planet, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (Commercial Waterpark):  (Pictures)
Rio Water Planet, Rio De Janeiro's first waterpark, opened in the Fall of 1998. Markey and Associates provided the mechanical design of the entire park plus was intensely involved with the design engineering of the Play Pool. Pictures show the Play Pool area.



Town of Blacksburg, Virginia: (Pictures)
Feasibility Study and Master Plan for the outdoor aquatic recreation needs of the Town of Blacksburg. Developed alternatives ranging from an outdoor Family/Kids play addition to the existing indoor pool, to a large, comprehensive Family Aquatic Center.
